The Imposter Syndrome

You don't need to feel ready to grow.

I think almost everyone hits imposter syndrome at some point. Most just never say it out loud.

An opportunity shows up that feels bigger than you. A promotion. A leadership role. A new venture. A major project. A seat at a table you never pictured yourself at.

And the first thought is always the same.

Am I really ready for this?

Here is what I have learned. Growth does not wait for you to feel ready. The opportunity comes first. The confidence comes later.

There were moments in my career where I questioned whether I could handle what was in front of me. I had done the work to be ready. I just could not see it yet. What changed was not my skill, it was the question I asked myself...

I stopped asking "What if I fail?"

I started asking "What if this is where I find out what I am actually capable of?"

That shift changes everything.

Nobody has every answer. Not the strongest leaders, not the most experienced people, not the ones who look like they have it all figured out. They are learning as they go, same as you. What separates them is not perfection. It is their willingness to step into discomfort and keep moving.

Most imposter syndrome comes from staring at the gaps and ignoring everything you already bring. You are not supposed to know everything. You are supposed to stay curious, ask questions, surround yourself with the right people, and keep growing.

Here is the part people miss.

The opportunity in front of you is not there because you already know everything. It is there because someone saw potential in you that you cannot fully see in yourself yet.

That does not mean you stop preparing. It means you stop waiting to feel perfectly ready before you take the step.

Confidence is not built by avoiding hard things. It is built by working through them.

Sometimes the biggest growth of your life starts with one sentence.

This is uncomfortable, and I am doing it anyway.

When did you say yes to something before you felt ready, and what did it teach you?
